CEO Blog – 17.11.23

This week has been another busy week for all of us at New Bridge, and I’m proud of our staff teams for pulling together and continuing to offer our students and young people the very best, even when it’s already dark by the time most of them are leaving!

We have continued with our outward facing work this week, talking to external colleagues from the unions and SSAT. These meetings have featured a range of interesting discussions about how we can support colleagues already in our workforce, and ensure the best people join us, and ultimately, stay with us.

The balance of challenge and reward is what drives people to work in this fantastic organisation, I think, and we need to keep attracting the right people. We need more people with a passion to support our learners and people who are motivated to be the best they can be in their roles.

Elsewhere, it was great to be able to join some of the invitational meetings and hear the great work going on across the Trust.

Wednesday was a sad day unfortuantely, as I attended the funeral of Sheila Whitely. I was however glad to have the opportunity to say ‘goodbye’ to a committed colleague of New Bridge who worked with some of us for many years.

It is always a sad event to say goodbye to someone, but I was glad to share the happy memories of Sheila with other colleagues who attended.

Looking ahead, my diary is filling up fast with all of our upcoming Christmas events, and I am looking forward to sharing them with you soon, although I may end up like the vicar of Dibley, having many Christmas dinners!

Have a good weekend, whatever you’re doing. It’ll be December before we know it!
